In closing…. all I’m gonna say is RUN don’t walk TODAY ONLY …. go here!

Booga Progress

Evening All!  It’s a late night blog post and it’s a quickie

As promised, a pic of the Booga in progress.  I am about almost done knitting the bag, and then it will be time to crank out those handles.   As the knittin’ goes on, the Noro is looking more fabulous.  I’m finding it kinda cool to knit with because the colors change as you go along which makes it fun and interesting.

Time to turn in !  yaaawwwn!  Sleep Well and Dream in color!

On with the show

What a dreary lookin’ Sunday we have here, and it’s so cold.  Brr!  The weather people predicted snow on the ground by morning and I see nothing!  Woo Hoo!

I had a wonderful time yesterday at Knitter’s Fantasy!  Knitter’s Fantasy is a combo of classes, shopping, fashion show, contests, demonstrations and lunch all wrapped up in one day.   As many of you know already, I signed myself up for a Felted Bag Workshop for the afternoon so that I could shop and have a look around before lunch and the fashion show.

The yarn market was ok.  A couple of my local LYSs were there as well as others from the state and beyond. Last year’s event I thought had a few more booths, but none the less I did some damage.  The first thing I saw that I liked and bought was the Knitters University “Fighting Balls” t-shirt by Two Chicks Designs.  They have a couple other knitting t-shirts on their website too.   Next purchases came from a yarn shop called Yarn Smiths.   All their fibers were gorgeous, colorful, and sooo soft.  You could buy a hank or get 2 hanks for a discounted price at the show.  Without further ado at your lower right hand corner of the “haul pic” (pic #3) is Yarn Smith’s “Prairie”: Superfine, 60% lambswool, 20% baby alpaca, 20% Cashmere, 400 yds each.  Next up, on the lower left hand corner of the “haul pic”, Herwick Fine by Autumn House Farm “Where yarn is born!”  The yarn booth itself was just gorgeous, I just had to get something!  So soft, like butta, and I love love love the colorway with the rich tones of browns, burgandy, teal, green, and amber.  This is gonna make a great pair of socks!  I also managed to snag a bookmark from them that reads: Great Yarns Knit Friends TogetherHow true is that!  The other yarn at the top left in the picture is Skacel Preludio… nice and fuzzy.  I got one bag of 2 balls as a freebie when I entered the show, and another bag of the same yarn as a door prize that I won.  It’s soo soft too.   In the Chinese raffle they had some pretty nice giveaways, but once again I was a loser

Before lunch and the fashion show started, I hopped over into the demo room where there were a couple of ladies doing all-day demos of machine knitting.  This was the first time I seen them in action.  I found that to be very fascinating.  The machine is big, the hooks remind me of those latch hooks you use for latch hooked rugs, and the yarn/string holders reminded me of fly fishing.  Anyhow, the woman in the picture above was in the process of making me a scrunchie (in the “haul pic” it’s the light teal circle at the bottom of the pic).  Super Cool.

The fashion show was another big hit this year.  The lady featured in the first picture above is just an awesome knitter.  She came to KF last year with a similar sweater dress (without cabling) and just wow’d the crowd.  This year she came with 3 different items which included a sweater jacket, a sweater & skirt combo, and this long cabled sweater dress.  Unfortnately, my flash on the camera would not cooperate with me properly so I don’t think this is a very good pic I took.  None the less, the sweater dress was just amazing.   Her items she showed in the fashion show came from Vogue Knitting and one other magazine … I can’t remember now.   Then as the fashion show progressed………  a man walked up on stage with a very handsome looking sweater pull over.  (Dang, my picture did not come out well or else I would post here).  The crowd started to hoot and hollar to cheer him on the catwalk.  Then announcer started to talk about the pullover then someone from the crowd hollared out “Did you make that?”….. He very shyly said “Yeah!” and the crowd went wild….roared with more hootin’ and hollarin’ and claps galore.  He did a fine knit job!

After the fashion show and giveaways, it was time for the Felted Bag class.  We were given a folder with handouts and then the teacher got us started on a Noro Ruffled Felt Bag which kind of looks like an upside down hat.  I started it in class, but I think I’m gonna frog it and start again.  My circ needle length was too long for this bag (the class description never mention what length to bring) and it made it virtually impossible to knit in the round.  So after I had hit my snag, I decided to leave the class a 1/2 hr early so I could get back on the road before the rainy weather hit.  Btw, here is my teacher’s blog if you would like to see more of her felted creations.

After making it home and getting dinner on, I suddenly FELT inspired to start the BOOGA BOOGA bag.   I have the botton done and about 8 rows of the bag done.  So there’s not much to show.  When I get more of the SS done up the bag, I’ll post a pic.   I’m liking the colorway I chose in Noro Kureyon.

Hang in there we’re almost the finish line.

While I was sittin’ and knittin’, I finally got to watch I am Legend” with Will Smith.  Pretty freaky movie, but it was just ok.  Will is a good actor so I’m sure he will overcome this one.

That’s All Folks!   Thanks for stickin’ it out.  Don’t think I’ll be venturing out today in the gloomy weather so, best bet is to go clean something.

Make it a good one!

TGIF!!

Thank God It’s Finished!  LOL !!  :)   Hoorah, finally finished the Irish Hiking Scarf in Malabrigo VAA last night while watching the new epi of ER.   The yarn is fabulous, but the only quirk that bugs me is that this yarn is like a fuzz magnet.  But all in all, the scarf turned out very nicely.

Knitters Fantasy is tommorrow.  My fibers are wound into cakes, got my tools ready, just need to print out directions on how to get there and back.  The weather people on tv stated that the nasty weather was suppose to happen today, but it ain’t happened yet.  It is so warm outside and sunny!  What gives?!  I just hope the nastiness shows up today and not tommorrow while I’m on the road.

Doing a ton of laundry today, cleaning, and hopefully tackling a new WIP.  Make it a great weekend bloggers! No matter what you’re up to!

Ok…. everyone out of the gutta!

7 Things About Me You May Already NOT Know

  1. I love animals.  Cats, Dogs (somebody gots a new puppy… see here), rabbits, horses, squirrels, guinea pigs, you name it.  I cry over animals more than people.  Sad, maybe, but it’s true.   Speaking of which, THIS THURSDAY APRIL 10TH  WEAR ORANGE!  Any kind of orange it can be a shirt, a pair of pants, a hair barette, a ribbon… just wear something orange and support the millions of animals throughout the world because on Thursday its ASPCA Day.  If you’re reading this now and you’re already dressed–nothing orange on? and still at home … you’ve got time to change into something orange.  And if you’re reading this now and not at home, go back home and change into something orange.  Your boss will understand and if they don’t change jobs.  Seriously don’t do that. I would settle for the word “orange” written on a piece of paper, taped to your shirt.  If they ask, just say I’m wearing orange today.
  2. I gamble (very) conservatively.  I play the lottery now and then, especially when the jackpot is high. But get me in a casino, WATCH OUT!   I make a bee-line for the nickle slots.  Sometimes 25 cent slots but only if I feel like living dangerously once in a blue moon.
  3. I eat popcorn on a daily basis.  Freakish, I know.  There’s just something about popped corn that is just too irresistible for me.  Maybe the butter, although lately I’ve had a craving for Mr. Orville Redenbacker’s Kettle Corn.  If the man was still alive, I’d have to hug him.
  4. I like to plan ahead on almost everything I do.  I can be spontaneous, but for some reason that doesn’t thrill me as much as planning something.  Go figure that one out.
  5. I like to be organized, although at times, you can hardly notice it.  I do, however, have to have my keys, eyeglasses in one particular spot every day/night or else I’ll forget where I put them.  To me that is organized.  If anything but that, it would be disaster.
  6. I must be the only one in a handful of a few.  I use my right-left turn signals in my car.   I thought everyone used them whether you had a new car, like-new car, older car, or the classic.  Silly me, didn’t know there was a choice — to use or not to use.  I’ll stick to “use”, ’cause I like to be a safe driver that way.
  7. Blogging is good for me, and you too I suspect.  Who in their bird brain said blogging was bad for you?!  Did ya’ll catch that article on Yahoo the other day.   I’ve met some wonderful friends via blogs that I wouldn’t have known about otherwise.  I enjoy reading them.  I try to comment on all of them.  But, most of all I learn, I laugh, I cry, I sigh, I aww, I share, I enjoy.  So keep on bloggin’!

Gettin’ Ready

Ho hum, it’s Monday again.  The weekend just flew by.  I spent the better part of the weekend cleaning and putting away all the Easter decorations.    As far as movies go, I did get to see “Enchanted” which was a Netflix pic from awhile ago.  McDreamy stars in the movie. I don’t know how he does it, but if you watch him closely he gives these “looks” that just make you want to melt and cry.  Anyways, it seems all my other “hot pics” are taken… (i.e. Atonement, No Reservations, The Mist, Alvin and the Chipmunks, to name a few) but anyways Enchanted was a sweet movie.  Good movie for kids, if you’ve got ‘em.

I went Sunday to Michaels to find a pair of DPNS for Knitters Fantasy coming up this Saturday.  I didn’t quite find the exact size and didn’t feel like scouring all of creation to find the size so I got a set close enough.  It will have to do.   For what class?  Felted Bag.  I took that as an afternoon class because I prefer to shop in the morning while everyone else is in the morning classes.   Besides I’ve been a bit apprehensive about doing a felted bag, so it seemed like a good choice for me.   In the above pic are my supplies: A skein of Noro Kureyon, a skein of Cascade 220 (Lagoon), a pair of circular & DPN needles.

Nuttin’ else is new bloggers, so I shall be off.  I’ve got chicken-n-dumplins in the crock pot for suppa tonight.   Yumo!

Glorious sunny day today!  Still cold but what a difference a little sunshine can make.  At first when I woke up, I was in a Grrr mood because I heard all this pounding, tearing noise going on outside my window.  So, I got out of bed thinking someone was tearing the house down when in fact the neighbor is getting new alum siding put on her house.    So, once I was up and saw the sun shining I thought to myself what a perfect day for a drive.

Got dressed, got the car in gear and headed off to the Stouffer outlet sale to load up on french bread pizzas, lasagnas and whatever LCs I could think would want.  Naturally on such a fine day, I took the “scenic route”, driving about an hour to get there.  I enjoyed the “scenic route” so much that once I awoke from my “sunny daze” I realized I had passed my turn and went about 2 miles out of my way.  It was funny too because I had never driven past my point of turn before and everything started to look unfamilar…. LOL…. low-n-behold my AH HA moment came like a ton of bricks and I realized  WHOOPSIE, I had missed my left hand turn.   So, this dingle berry turned the wheels around and headed back to make the correct turn leading me to where I was suppose to be going in the first place.  Got there, got my DEALS, and headed back home yonder to unload and STUFF the freezer with everything I scored!

Later, this evening, I met some of the Knit & Hook group members over at the nearby town library to take in the 34th Annual Needlework Show which included alot of pretty quilts, cross stitch, crewel stitching, embroidery, and a few knitted and crocheted items such as sweaters, socks, handbags, seat cushions, toys and totes.  This was my very first year of attending this event, and I was just in aw.   I left there so inspired that a million and two projects danced in my head.  Whew!  Sadly, I was reminded of the projects I already have going and not going and decided that was enough for me for right now.

Well, I’m off to enjoy the rest of the evening.  By the looks of things next door, there will be more pounding and now sawing going on tommorrow.

O! Joy!

Cap for a Kid

cnv0131.jpg

Ugh, it’s Monday!  Although the good thing about today is that the weather is warmer….. we’re suppose to get up to 60 degrees today even though its raining!  Woo Hoo!

Last night during the episodes of The Tudors, I finished making a “cap for a kid” to take to Knitters Fantasy that I’ll be trekking to in the next couple of weeks.  So happy the Tudors are back and I’m liking Peter O’Toole as Pope.

The cap is made from Sirdar Click in a purple white combo.  I found the FREE pattern on Ravelry, but made small adjustments to my liking.  I have a some of this yarn left over… maybe to make another hat (?).

Everyone did really great on the Movie Meme below.  I filled in the last 2 that were stumpers.  That was a really fun meme, and I’ll have to do it again sometime.

Welp, that’s all for today bloggers.  Need to do laundry, figure out what’s for dinner today, and school work, all before Dances with the Stars tonight.

Make it a good one!
