Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.  As most of you know, I spent the better part of mine in Spring Fling Part Deux.  Thankfully, most of the flinging took place the week before …. so this was the “final pitch” weekend for city pickup.   Found a few interesting things…. some nostalgic … some tragic… some ah ha so that’s where it is… types of things.  Glad it’s over for now….. my poor aching aged bones.

I have a love story to share.  Remember “I Will Follow Him” by Peggy March ?  I think Petula Clark did the song too.

 This afternoon I had the front door shut.  Kinda chilly & rainy here today. Had the heat on a little so didn’t want any of it to escape.  The cat just awoke from his afternoon nap and walked over to the door.  Next I hear tap tap tap… he’s standing on his hind legs, front paw extended, tapping on the door knob, trying to open the door himself.  (He does it often… even when I’m in the bathroom)  So, I go over to the door, and I open it for him so he’s able to look out. 

Suddenly just as I have it open …. I see these two “love birds” (above pic) in my front yard.  (Don’t look too close at the weeds…. those are history soon).   They’re back.  I saw them around the neighborhood (was it last year or year before) before.  They waddled around my front yard — the one following the other — I ran to the back bedroom to snag my digital before they walked off… and managed to get back in the nick of time to snap a pic.  After they stopped there, they waddled over to my next door neighbor’s yard.   I saw my neighbor outside sweeping her driveway.. and softly hollared for her to look up and see the mallards coming her way.   She was so surprised too.  She wondered, as did I, why they did not seem afraid of us (people).  She said if I hadn’t called to her they probably would of scared her.   So Mr & Mrs settled in her yard for a little while — again one following the other — so I went back inside the house because it was chilly.  I put away my camera and when I came back they were gone. I have no idea why they have come here.  There isn’t a lake, pond, or creek for miles.  Wonder if they’ll be back?!  Maybe so.

Anyways, nothing new on the knit or crochet frontier to report.  I’m off to study some.

It’s Sunday evening and the feeling of “sore” is starting to settle in.   This weekend was Part 1 of 2, Spring Flingin’ happening in my neck of the woods.  So, I spent this time … flinging, scraping, putting aside for donating, and oh I’ll just save that and this to go through then decide to fling or save.  Ooop!  Think I just heard another car stop out front at the curb…. won’t find much…. it’s all boxes… old wood…. junk.

I found a box of yarn!  Even an afghan I had started a long time ago.  *sigh* Afghan weather has passed so I unraveled it all into one big massive ball.   The yarn will get donated on Tuesday when I go to drop off the afghan the group made plus some more yarn they donated as well.  

I also found a “catch-all” box of my mother’s misc sewing items … low-n-behold I found a couple of old pairs of knitting needles.  Didn’t think she every knitted before.  Knew she crocheted.  Interesting.

Oh yes and amongst it all, I found this little blue guy.  Three-fourths of the way finished.  He’s missing a hat.  Anyways, can anyone guess what his other function is… besides lookin’ mysterious with no lips?

Yes my dears….. life is full of options….. the big reveal.  I noticed the other day that my knit/hook bag that I carry around was …say getting a little worn…. wonder could it be trying to carry too many books & too many wips ??   A neat gal from our local knit & hook has been carrying one with her in c-h-o-c-o-l-a-t-e.  She opened it up the other meeting, and I fell in love with the bag.  She said she got hers on a deal from KW.  I wanted blue, but blue was sold out.  So, with 8 of the lime green left… I snagged it.  Creative Options… it indeed lives up to the name.

Another option… really have been debating …. back n forth … on this one for quite along time.  But I figured the investment was well worth it…… KP’s Options Circ Needle Set in ……… Harmony!  They are so so pretty!  I love wood…. its very “easy” on my bad hands, which is why I use it most often now…. these, are just spectacular.   I’m very pleased.

Welp, that’s all these keyboard keys will type tonight.  I’m exhausted!  Gotta go relax by the tele…. while I continue knittin’ on a sock….. Yes, socks are back on my radar again!

I have sinned for a number of reasons.  1. Bought something and something I wanted, but ouch. They’re not here yet, so I’ll have to post about them later.  2.  Swore I would not go to another book sale until Fall.  Gee, I guess I did.  3.  Bad, haven’t blogged in awhile.

Since #1 is not delivered yet, I’ll chat about #2 & #3.   A picture is worth a thousand words as they say, but still I need to explain myself… go figure.  I went to a group coupon swap this morning.  I had a lovely time with the ladies, swapping coupons, get the low downs, and hearing all the funny stories.  After that, the car drove me (get it …. I’m denying I had the idea in the first place) to our local library for their Book Sale of which is displayed above. 

I do have WIPs on needles & hooks, but just started them so not much to see at the moment, hencewith, being a bad blogger.

*sigh*

Here we go again, the beginning of another week.  Thank you all for you kind words about my Booga bag.  Felting is scary fun indeed. 

Gloomy today.  Rain. Cold.  Suppose to snow.  Then climb back up into the 80s by the end of the week.  What is up with that?!  All I keep saying is “don’t get sick” “don’t get sick”.  Ugh.

Since November of last year, volunteers from my local Knit & Hook group have been busily making 7″ x 9″ squares for Warm Up America.   We gave members a voting choice to see where they would like the squares to go to, and they voted for Warm Up Akron, which is apart of WUA locally.   The challenge is near its end (May 1st) and with the squares I have collected so far from the group, we have a total of 47 !   Yay!

For the past couple of days, I took the ones that I had collected and arranged them into this afghan.  I finished assembling it yesterday.  The other squares that are left over (and still yet to collect) will also go to Warm Up Akron so they can use them for another afghan project.

Other than that, the weekend was uneventful.  Didn’t really get to see any movies either.

Today is a little manic because I’m getting the hot water tank replaced this afternoon.  No, it didn’t explode but it’s so close to that time that I didn’t want to take any chances esp with a new floor that will soon go in the laundry room. So I am going to go finish my cup o’joe and set out to clear everything out of that room so there’s a tad more space to work to put the tank in.

Manic Monday indeed.  Whatever happened to the Bangles anyways?! 

Have a Good Weekend !

Today is the day!  Under much nervousness and anxiety, I went for it and threw the Booga and the strap into the frying pan aka: washa machine.

This is what it looks like after 2 washes.  I took it out after the 2nd, and immediately started to sing in my head “I like big BAGS and I cannot lie”…. kinda like… ya know… that song.  I think I am stopping at 2 washes.  I can just a wee wee tiny bit of stitching… can hardly tell… but I’m afraid 1 more cycle might just really make it too small.   I have it over a regular-sized PO box.  The size is just almost the length of a sheet of paper.  I wish only that it be just a tad more bigger.  Yes, Yes to Ms Crazy Crocheter… I checked it… almost every 6 minutes or so…..  The i-cord handle… I LOVE… how it turned out.  I used the Wonder Knitter like Yarn Tails told me to and make it a little bit longer like PC advised. 

Now the air drying process begins.  Then assembly.

I think I am going to make a few more of these for xmas gifts, but I’m think I need to knit more rows than what the pattern called for to satisfy by “BIG BAG” obsession.

Final Thoughts:  Not a bad project overall.   Idol: Cya to Irish… thought for sure it was Brooke, but this was bound to happen…also. Let’s face it, it’s American Idol afterall (not that I have anything against irish, being irish, ireland… well you get my drift).  Tonight’s my “programs” night, so I’m trying to get alot accomplished this afternoon.  So, gotta scoot.

Among many vices of mine: Bags, Yarn, Books.  But good vices none-the-less.  Today was the opening day of the Book Sale in the neighboring town.  They had a preview of books for sale on a cart when I went to the Needlework show a few weeks back.  The selections were good (not just needlework) so I decided to put the sale date on my calendar to go check it out.

I got there just after it started, pulled into the parking lot just as someone in an eye shot of the front door was pulling out.  Lucky day I thought to self.  Then suddenly some lady swoops in from the other direction and takes the parking spot.    &*^%#@ !!!

So onward I puttered to the back of the lot where I was able to find a space.  Thankfully, I had purchased 2 “Eco-friendly” tote bags awhile back and had them stashed in the car for purposes such as this one.  At first thinking “just take 1 bag” then at last minute decided… “take them both”.  And away I went.

I got upstairs to where the sale was taking place and my eyes went buggy.  The people inside the room were packed in like sardines.  I managed somehow to squeeze myself in and started to work my way to the craft & hobby table.  Disappointed to find only a small smattering of knit & crochet books.  If I quilted, I would of had better luck.  Anyways, I scooped up what I could (shown in pic) which included a couple of books using a double-end crochet hook.  I think I have such a hook… somewhere.  Has anyone used a double-end crochet hook before??

After the craft & hobby table, I managed to worm my way to the mysteries.  Along the way stopping here and there I found a few names I read before and picked up a couple of theirs as well.  (List is coming… hold yer britches).  Lastly, over in the oversized section, again more quilting, but I did see an unusual book with a bunch of fleur di lis on the cover.  I opened the book up and the title of the book is “Art Treasures Of the Louvre”.  The pictures were amazing and after careful thought of content and price ($1), I snapped it up!

Final thoughts:  Sad Marlee voted off DWTS.  Idol: I’m getting turned off.  I think they need to reconsider what they are having these “kids” sing.  Barely none of them knew about Sir Andrew, so naturally I did not expect any of them to do well because they don’t even know what they are singing about.   I do think the final 2 will be David & David.   And halleujah….. 2 more days till Greys & Lost return!

Soggy Sunday.  We had a brief moment of bliss yesterday when the sun was shining, but I will say I am happy that Spring has sprung and the promise of more sunny days to come.

The Spring Flinging has begun!  Yesterday, I started with the cubby hole in this house where my parents stored all their holiday decorations, and as years have gone past I added to it, making it all overflow and sometimes difficult to get the door to either open or close.   So, I dragged everything out and sorted it by Easter, Christmas, Halloween, Fall, etc., boxed it all up, and marked each box accordingly.  I also flinged some other stuff that was no longer needed, but kept alot of the old stuff for the memories.  I inherited my parents house, so you can imagine  how much stuff there was, and yet still to go through.

My brother worked on the garage yesterday.  Taking out what he did not need or want.  He says he has “plans” for new shelves, new this new that.   Anyways, in the midst of his cleaning he ran across a scrapbook tucked away in the rafters.  Apparently, it was mine…. from kindergarten!!   My Dad had saved it.   It’s a little beat up and discolored around the edges, but inside………. was all my earlier works of art!  Most of the pictures inside, had mostly “R’s” written all over the place.  Either it was my fascination about the letter “R”, or I was trying to write my name…. perhaps a little of both.  Anyhow, above are just a couple samplings from the scrapbook.  The 3rd pic down is suppose to be a picture of me in my favorite purple dress.  I believe the drawing was based on my favorite dress I wore at the time… along with purple tights, naturally.  However, the purple tights are not shown in this picture, but my carrot nose is… I loved (still love) carrots.  I’ll have to find a way to preserve the scrapbook, but for the time being, I’m taking a few digital pics of it so I can post the pics into my family’s photo scrapbook that I’m currently making… that is a never ending process… it seems.
