Here We Snow Again
February 26, 2008 by hookedonstring

Ooops, It did it again…. Ok … I’m not Dolly Parton or Brittany Spears… but I just had to get a jig in today. Omg, it’s snowing…again. Everything is white. We have currently (12 noon-ish) about 4 inches of snowing and counting. I say counting because the stuff keeps falling.
The snow is wet and heavy. I can’t shovel because of my back problems, so I sweep the snow away with a broom. As I was doing so, It felt like a million eyeballs were watching me push the snow from side to side. After I was done, I went back inside to get warm and finish drinking my cup of coffee.
The cat has a bad case of cabin fever. He is not allowed outside, nor does he want to go outside… ever… but he is depressed because I can’t leave the front door open so he can look outside like I would if it were warmer. So this morning after I just sat down to finish my coffee, I hear this noise at the front door. Here, the cat is pawing at the front door trying to open the door hisself. That’s when I got up, opened the door for him to be able to look outside at the snow, and there….. in the tree…. were the million eyeballs. Squirrels.
So, I get out my peanut box and put a few peanuts down for them…. my regulars. My regulars know to sit in the tree in my front yard where they have a nest… and as they sit, they wait, and they watch my front door like they are CIA or something. I noticed this past summer that in another tree I have in the front yard… another nest had formed… and gray and black baby squirrels had been born. They were so cute chasing each other in the tree, yet still fearful about coming down to the ground. Well, fear no more…
The baby gray squirrel today that I saw is on the squirrel box on the tree and again standing in the snow. He/She was so cute barreling through the snow this morning as snow gathered on his/her nose and head and once there was a nice little pile there he/she flip it’s head to fling the snow off. So cute. It took me awhile to get this squirrel to come up to my front walkway where I had peanuts.
The black squirrel in the other picture is a regular. So, straight from tree to sidewalk to tree again, it made several trips for this morning’s breakfast.
I had some pretty birds at my feeder this morning in the backyard. But they won’t stay still long enough for me to get a great shot. That will have to be something for me to practice on.
Well, I’m off to my studies. Dinner will be early today…. Chicken Noodle Soup & Breaded Chicken. Tonight is the big debate between O & C on the tv.
Put your shovels aside for a few, and grab a cuppa hot cocoa!

What fun snow pictures?? All we have is rain.
Wow! The snow looks lovely! The last squirrel there looks like he needs a pair of little snow shoes.
Ha! You’re right. That snow is really deep. Look how far up on the squirrel’s legs the snow reaches. Too funny
I am now officially tired of the snow….I’m ready to sit on my front porch and read in the warm sunshine!
Your pictures make winter look nice. Which we all know is far from reality.
I love that you have ‘regulars’. Do you have names for them?
those little guys look like they arent entirely sure what they should be doing in all the snow how sweet!
At least they know they have you to get food from on days like that and thats a good thing.
