The Need for Speed
August 26, 2007 by hookedonstring

Yesterday morning I went to the Stitch Piece n Purl birthday sale (my LYS). I waited an hour after they opened to go, hoping for the mad rush to thin out, but it was still pretty busy. Before I went, I kinda had in mind that I would pick up more sock yarn…. Louet Gems (Pink Panther & Eggplant)… and then I snagged more of Elisbeth Lavold Silky Wool in moss green. The silent auction was nice. They had some books and knitted store samples (i.e. sweaters, tops, and a handbag) up for auction of which I put a bid in for the Knitters Bible Book Set (came with book & yarn) and the handbag. I think next week they will call people if they won any of the auctions. As an added bonus, they gave out coupons for an additional 15% off a day’s purchase if you spend atleast $25. So if I add that to my birthday bonuses again at Stitch Piece n Purl & Miss Chickpeas, and a yarn trip with the knit group at Studio Knit, I should be swimming in fiber for the next 5 years! Hence, the need for speed!
Adding more fuel to the fire, after shopping there, I went to Pat Catans to see the neat stuff they had for fall, plus I needed to get a skein of Carons SS in black. I ran across a hat/scarf pattern for men by Bernat using Softee Chunky. It’s a very simple pattern of K2 P2 and by using this color Denim Ombre it is turning out to be kinda cool lookin’. The scarf will go to charity.
Meanwhile, my Netflix selections this week kept me entertained while I’ve been knitting. Sometimes it’s weird because what I think is bad, critics love. Disturbia, I’ll sum it up in one word for ya - Lame! There was so much hype about this movie and now I just don’t see what the big deal was. Lame! On the other hand, Perfect Stranger - was very good. Bruce Willis and Halle Berry star in this movie about this woman (Halle Berry) trying to track down her friend’s killer. All I’m gonna say is that things aren’t as they seem. Left me sayin’ Nuh-uh!
This is all she wrote for today! Beautiful day today, gotta get out there and enjoy some of it. Happy Sunday to all!

arent your yarns just yummie looking!!! And the scarf is looking lovely.
I know whatyour saying about the need for speed.. I might not have yarn to swim in for the next five years but I stillwant to hurryup and finish some of these things that I am doing!!
So good luck on the auction hope you get it!!
Score! Interesting how the pattern on that scarf is coming out. I will have to queue up Perfect Stranger.
Thank you … the scarf is just about done.
I’ve wondered how that denim ombre would work up — the diamond pattern coming out is neat. And that mossy green yarn is gorgeous! Do you think they have any more of it? Might be worth a trip upstate…..
Great stash expansion!!! And the blue scarf is turning out very cool…
I like the ending of the scarf very much!
