Be a Good Neighbor

Does my baby sock look too short to you? In my sock knit class they gave us extra patterns to try and one of them was for these baby socks. So I thought, cool I can make a pair quick because I know of a certain baby who in 2 weeks will plop into this world of ours… hence the blue color - yep already know she’s having a boy. So, seriously does it look a little short going towards the toes? The pattern said to continue toe decrease until you had 8 stitches. Ok? 8 stitches? does that mean 8 stitches total or 8 stitches per needle (of which I wound up with 8 stitches on both needles = 16 stitches). I’m still pondering that one.
Yesterday I took a friend’s husband up to the VA hospital to have his hearing aids checked for sound while his wife had a doctor’s appointment of her own. So after we were done there, we both agreed we were hungry and decided to “do lunch”. He said to pick some place and naturally there was only one place that came to my mind… Banana Cream Pie! Ok so that’s not the name of the restaurant, it’s Max & Erma’s in reality, but that is what they were giving away FREE this week so long as I had a “Good Neighbor’s” card. I’ve come to LOVE Max & Erma’s. They’ve got really decent food. I especially LOVE their tortilla soup…. YUMO! Usually I opt for the tortilla soup but yesterday went for the BBQ Chicken Quesadilla (very filling for an appetizer). As lunch was finished I whipped out my GN card and voila we got a banana cream pie for dessert for FREE! So listen up! This is my tip of the day, to be a good neighbor you’ve gotta get their card. Go into a Max & Erma’s near you and ask your waiter or waitress for one (sometimes they don’t blurt it out and offer it. So ask ‘em. I had to ask for mine.) The card is free (no donation required). Once you have it, you’ll need to register it online at Max & Ermas.com. Once you’re registered you’ll receive up-to-date emails on what FREEBIE is happening which week. (7/30-8/5 Banana Cream Pie, 8/6-8/12 Cookies, 8/13-8/19 soft pretzel sticks, 8/20-8/26 Rootbeer Float, 8/27-9/2 Tortilla Soup). The object of the card is to rack up points so you get a percentage off your bill which starts after the initial 5 visits. Meanwhile they load everyones card with FREE specials which can be anything from a drink, appetizer, to dessert. Unfortunately for couples out there, it’s not a “couple card” so if you each want your own “banana cream pie” you have to ask for 2 cards. But seriously the banana cream pie is big enough for the both of you and then some. Oh just remember your M&E points do not roll over into next year. So… use it or lose it.
Oh and for crocheters, Debbie Macomber has a free pattern on her website for a cute Bucket Tote! The pattern for the Bucket Tote is only available online for free until August 17th. It is in PDF format so you’re able to save it! Kinda cute, I thought!
Ok gotta scoot! Study break is over… back to typing. Chow!

The pattern is for eight stitches total not on each needle. We don’t have a M&E here but the pie sounds good.
Thanks for the link to Debbie Macomber’s site.
Good thing I am not a fan of bananas so I dont have to sit here and be jelous that you got osmething yummie.. hehe…. That bag is cute though your right. If I had a reason to use it Id make it, but I dont go to the beach often enough to have a need..
I don’t think the sock looks to short. Remeber Babies tend to have short stubby feet anyway. With luck they grow out of that…I however did not. Sad, but oh so true.
We don’t have a M&E around here….and now I want to go on a road trip to check one out.
I think the baby socks look perfect in length.
I love banana cream pie! Yum. Now I’ll be thinking about it all day long….thank you very much!
I *heart* Max & Erma’s/ There’s one right at halfway between Columbus and Cincinnati, Ohio that hubby and I stop at as a treat on our way home from visiting my friend/ We didn’t stop Friday and I was sad/ There’s one not too far from here that we can sneak off to sometime/ I LOVE their cheeseburgers/
As for the sock, I dunno/ I still haven’t whooped Opal (long, funny story)
Cris~
I think the sock looks just right. Don’t babies have chubby little feet? Should be perfect and congrats on the finished sock! Woohoo! Oh and thanks for the link to the bucket tote!
Your baby sock looks great. It is suppose to be 8 stitches total. But still you did a fab job on it!!
Banana Cream Pie… YUMMMY!!!!!!!!!
That is a cute tote. Printed the pattern. Thanks for the link.
PS… Check out my blog to see what I did today! YOU WONT BELIEVE IT!
Thanks Priscilla & Brandy for the answer and thanks everyone for your nice comments on the baby sock. I can probably turn it into a cat toy while I start another sock.
Thanks again!
