‘Cheery’ Tomato
May 28, 2007 by hookedonstring
I’m up late. It’s actually in the wee hours of the morning on Monday morning. I just took an Aleve to help with the soreness that I’ve endured ‘yesterday’.  I managed to get up Sunday morning to prep the bathroom for demolition and redo, of which is not completed finsihed yet… new floor, new cabinet, new sink, new lights, new mirror, and new-over due paint job. Poor cat during all the noise and work going on, he hid under the bed until 8p last night to come out for dinner… tuna of course… poor thing was starving. Â
Anyhow, after my prep-work was done and my brother could get started on his job at hand, I got out in the garden and planted a flat of hot pink impatients, some geraniums, and 2 cherry tomato plants in a patio container. I love a vegetable garden, but it’s alot of back breaking, knuckle banging, sweat & tear kinda of a thing… and I’m getting too old for that. After the planting was done, I took a union break (for about an hour) and then decided to get the cushions out for the patio furniture and put them on. So I washed the furniture, then snapped the pads in place on 2 rockers and 1-3 seater… and then took “another union break”  for another approx 2 hours, of which included some knitting of a mitred square in one the rocking chairs. Then I got the urge to rake the front yard and clear up any tossed out peanut shells, gathered all of that and other gunk into a garbage bag… disposed of it properly… then decided I needed another “union break.” I grabbed my knitting from the back yard rocking chair, and took with me a padded folding chair to the front yard… and knit some more. By this time, my brother had been watching me. He look at me puzzled. I said “I’m on my union break.” Dumb-founded and almost speechless at my remarks, he finally says “No breaks, there ain’t no union here!!”.  I laughed and kept on knitting.
I hope everyone has a wonderful, relaxing holiday, but take a moment or two to “say thanks” to those who we remember today.

On sat. I got the urge to do yard work too. I filled 2 yardwaiste containers and still have about 1 more. All I did was cut the bushes and trees that cross over the fince. Hubby wants to put in a salsa garden in containers on the back patio. I still have to figure out what flowers I want to try in the flowerbeds.
tell your brother next time that your the union and if he dont like it you will flush him down the toilet! hehehe… okay seriously though doesnt he know you worked hard and earned those breaks!! Goodness!
