Nutella, Yarn, and a Cat
February 6, 2007 by hookedonstring

Eee-gads what a day already! I woke up this morning about 5 a.m. to a sick stomach that went on for about 2 hours. Then around noon I felt a little hungry… no wonder… and decided to make some chicken broth with saltine crackers. I got everything in the pot, cooking away… then suddenly I hear … CLANK, CLANK, BOOM! I ran to the living room to see what happened and found my skein of yarn, unraveled, and all the way down the hallway to the back bedrooms. My bamboo knitting needles and my latest square for the WUA Knit In …. GONE! After reading a few Nancy Drews and The Hardy Boys mysteries as a child, I decided to “follow the yarn” down the hallway. So I go down the hallway to under my bed. I hear more CLANK CLANK. I pull on the yarn and my stars it seemed like I pulled forever… till finally my knitting needles and my square were at the end…. I GASP… as I look down OH THANK GOODNESS it’s still in tact. Then I see two glowing green marbles in the dark… looking right at me… I say “Ya little knitster you… are you alright?” No response … usually the cat talks back .. “meow, meow” but not this time. I ask ” Are you injured?” Again no response. So I went back to the living room and rolled up the skein of yarn. I sat down and waited. Finally the cat came out… a little terrified more than anything. I checked him out ….he’s ok… just a little spooked. Why? How? … I don’t know… the cat refuses to talk about it. LOL.
Today is World Nutella Day! My friend Joyce gave me a jar for Christmas one year and said “Try this! I think you’ll like it.” Nutella is a hazelnut spread with skim milk and cocoa. It has a very smooth chocolate-ity, nutty flavor to it. I prefer to spread it on toast or a crossiant. It’s very good! I had intended to make Nutella cookies for today’s event, but because I’m not feeling so good I decided I would put it off till maybe the weekend. I hope this “virus” will pass by tommorrow. Our knitting group is having a meetup tommorrow night.
Anyways, the squares! Here are the ones that are completed so far. The yarn I am using is Caron’s Perfect Match in acrylic. This yarn is acrylic but it’s not harsh when you touch it. These skeins I am using give a nice visual effect… kinda cool. Speaking of cool.. it sure is here. We are suppose to “warm up” to the 20’s by tommorrow, but the lows for the evenings will still be in single digits. I’ve brought out all the blankets I could find just to keep warm. I’m going to run and make another cup of hot cocoa… I need more blubber!

Andi your squares are very pretty I love the colors. I hope your cat is over whatever spooked him.
Your kitty sounds like my Rascal. Everything spooks him. Feel better soon! *knock on wood* I havent gotten the virus thing so far this year. Thank goodness! Squares are looking lovely!
Thank you Thank you
Lovely squares! Nice job! Poor kitty, sounds like she got herself (himself?) tangled up in yarn and freaked herself out.
My cousin used to work for Ferrero who distributes Nutella. She once sent me a whole case of Nutella. That was a LOT of Nutella, I tell ya. But good stuff. Now I want some. :o)
what a sight that must of been! My dogs seem to think all of my projects are their person blankies! They try to snuggle with them.
